Just recently, Visa closed over 100 Acai merchants stores. These stores were all proven to be tricking their customers into signing up for a monthly subscription. The decision of Visa to take action was based on the number of complaints, which is big in number. William Sheedy, the Visa group president, says the complaints came from a vast number of consumers that became a victim of this acai berry free trial tactic.

The tactic this Acai merchant stores use is to mislead online readers into giving up their credit card details. They promise free products in return. However, they actually just want to get the credit card number of the client and enlist them in a monthly subscription.
Acai products will then be regularly sent and billed to the customer. The problem with this is most of the time, the customer is not aware of the subscription until they receive their credit card bills. This has generated numerous complaints. The merchant does themselves no favors by being completely uncontactable, and the consumer cannot easily cancel the charges. This is the ever-present acai berry scam.

Acai berry products have indeed health benefits to the user. It is only because of these misleading marketing tactics that is making it look bad to the public. Do not let bad marketing discourage you from enjoying what the fruit has to offer.
